Analysis of big showdowns this gameweek.

Chelsea vs Aston Villa
Prediction: 2-1

This clash will be one of Chelsea's largest obstacle to lift the league trophy.

The Blues' form have been very shaky recently with only about 50% of victory rate recently. A 5-0 Portsmouth's thrash does not really convince me, since Pompey is a team where most teams can rip off (except for Hull, of course).

However, the Villans are just as good as the host, if not worse. Despite being remain unbeaten in 2010, the double double league fixtures for Aston Villa had only seen them taking 6 points from 12, in which now they have even less chances than Liverpool claiming the fourth spot, judging by fixtures.

Martin O'Neill's wisdom will be very important in deciding the outcome of the game with Milner most probably absent. The Young-Carew duo will again be the biggest threat to pierce Chelsea's defence, especially when Ivanovic is out for a whole month - we all know how inferior Paulo Ferreira is.

Still, with the offensive quality Chelsea has, I think they will get full advantage of Stamford Bridge and take Aston Villa as their prey before they eventually visit to Old Trafford...

He might not be pretty, but his finishing is classy.

World Cup 2010: England's Calamity

On the verge of South Africa World Cup, Capello now has more and more reasons to headache:
  • David Beckham suffered a big injury which will ruled him out from the pitch for half year,
  • Ashley Cole is still racing with time to get ready for World Cup just in time,
  • Emile Heskey was injured during the game in midweek,
  • James Milner has a sore Achilles which the severity is still unknown,
  • Wayne Rooney, England's biggest hope of getting the World Cup, is limping off the pitch after the game against Liverpool...
More may come, and this is definitely not a good story for Capello...

Hope that Ferguson won't exhaust him... That's impossible though.

FA Cup: Tottenham proceeds

Tottenham defeated Fulham 3-1 to book a place in Wembley for FA Cup semi-finals.

Bobby Zamora opened the scoreline before David Bentley, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Eidur Gudjohnsen completed the comeback victory with one goal each.

Tottenham's next opponent would be Redknapp's former club - the relegating Portsmouth.

He touches the ball and scores again!

The Wild Battle of First and Fourth

Two points separated the first from third - the premier league is still full of excitements till now!

Manchester United is now on the pole officially. With a much better form than Chelsea, they are looking forward to lift the trophy for the fourth time consecutively. They have only left Chelsea (H), Man City (A) and Tottenham (H) of the top seven to fight for, which are obviously much easier than Chelsea's.

The Blues will still need to face Aston Villa (H), Man Utd (A), Tottenham (A) and Liverpool (A) which are on the top half of the table. With three away games out of these four, they are having a big disadvantage compared to the other two. A draw or defeat out from Old Trafford will basically mean that their race is over.

Whereas for the Arsenal who will only need to fight Tottenham (A) and Man City (H), their title hope was quite bright before until Vermaelen was suspended last week. The way where Arsenal endure the three games without him will pretty much decide their fate.

As for the race for fourth, Aston Villa is on the verge of being the first to be knocked out. The game this weekend will decide whether they can stay on track or try again next year.

Liverpool are four points behind Tottenham who played one match less than them. However, the gap might be eventually cancelled with Tottenham's back to back challenge against the top three.
The Reds' fate will be pretty much concluded on the clash with Chelsea, with the prerequisite of getting at least 13 points out of 15 before that.

Meanwhile, Manchester City will have four continuous tough games from April to May - Man Utd (H), Arsenal (A), Aston Villa (H) and Tottenham (H). Despite the toughness of fixtures, three games on home means that they still hold some advantage against their rivals.

How exciting this season has became!

Who will be the hero?

Post-Match Analysis: Gameweek 31

I was having an awful gameweek 31 with captain James Milner doing nothing in both games. How about you?

Fantasy Commentary
Summary of interesting matches this gameweek.

Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool

Manchester United has finally made a revenge after successfully reversed Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford.

The Reds is looked to complete the run of victories against United for two consecutive seasons when Fernando Torres headed in an unmarked header in as early as five minutes from the start. However, an unnecessary pull from Javier Mascherano against Antonio Valencia has seen Rooney on the spot in first half, in which he had to score from a rebound after a brilliant save by Pepe Reina.

The game then progressed as Park vs Reina as the South Korean was the one supplying various threatening attempts towards Liverpool's net and it was no surprise when Park Ji Sung headed in a brilliant goal in 59th minute.

The remainder of the game saw Torres missed to perfect chances supplied to him which ultimately cost Liverpool three points and also their chances to get into top four. A strong display by United's defence this time, especially Nemanja Vidic who didn't complete his quadruple of red cards against Liverpool this time.

Final score - Park Ji Sung 1, Reina 0.

The proud of Asia.

Manchester City 0-2 Everton

The Eastlanders have made the chase for fourth much more interesting after dropping full three points to the Toffees.

Despite City's domination in possession, Tim Cahill was the one who scored the first goal of the match.

Tim Howard performed various brilliant saves before Arteta eventually sealed the game 2-0 for them which allowed his team to get closer for Europa League aspirations.

"I'm unstoppable!"

All Games

Aston Villa was the loser of the week managing to only get 2 points from their possible 6.

Chelsea has officially lost their lead after a 1-1 draw with Blackburn, although they have quickly rebounded through a 5-0 demolition of Portsmouth.

Iain Dowie is nothing better than Phil Brown to be successfully reversed by Portsmouth 3-2.

Eidur Gudjohnsen benefited from Pavlyuchenko's injury as he was substituted in for the game and became the crucial factor for Tottenham's victory against Stoke City.

Arsenal achieved a tough victory against West Ham with Vermaelen being sent off and Bendtner being injured.

Wolverhampton is now almost freed from relegation crisis after snatching four points from this crucial gameweek.

Another hero of Tottenham emerged.
