Post-Match Analysis: Gameweek 12

Sorry about the lack of updates as I was, am and will be busy for these weeks. For your information, the questions about officials' professionalism was once again floated on the surface as another series of controversial judgements were made in this gameweek. The league is sick. Really sick.

Heroes and Zeroes

The Fantasy Hero of the Heroes Award

John Carew (15)
I'm very impressed with his influence to humiliate Bolton 5-1.

John Terry (15)
Coincidently, his first name is also John! Headed the decisive header to increase Chelsea's leading gap to five points.

Rest of Heroes
Arsenal - For becoming the most successful club in attacking currently.
Gomes - For saving a penalty.
N'gog - For saving his club from losing.
Agbonlahor - For being so so consistent.
Craddock - For heading two goals again.

Zeroes
N'gog - For diving.
Man Utd - For dominating the game but still lost.
Referee - For stealing the limelight again.
Faye Ab - For getting the red card that changed the outcome of the game.
Craddock - For heading an own goal.
Liverpool - For achieving first league draw.

News and Highlights

Blues vs Devils: The Verdict
The officials occupied the headlines again as Chelsea triumphed Manchester United 1-0 in their latest encounter at Stamford Bridge. Ferguson again proved that he didn't lead United to level Liverpool's top division title count for nothing with his strategy that effectively sealed Chelsea's offence. However, the game was manipulated by the referees again through a series of false accusations. Although the most noticeable one was Drogba's yellow after he was stepped by Evans, most of the time the judgements were in favour over Chelsea. Nevertheless, the Reds can't blame anyone for their inability to convert chances into points.

Legend #1. Congrats for making the toughest man in the league to sleep under your foot.

N'gog the Copycat
The first league draw for Liverpool this season had made them to continue their winless streak after the victory against United. 37 shots, 78% possession but still needed a dive for victory. This is how pathetic the runner-up of last season is. I think Rafa Benitez would be glad for an international break for the first time now as Torres, Gerrard and Johnson will now have the time to recuperate. But wait, it's the turn for Benayoun and Riera to flirt with the nurses now!

Legend #2. Congrats for managing to copy Christiano Ronaldo's signature move.

Pre-Match Analysis: Gameweek 12

After a poor European showdown of the English clubs the premier league is back into action with one of the most awaited showdown of the season - Chelsea vs Man Utd! Lets see what sparks can the two teams make in the match that can decide the title holder of the 09/10 season!

AST vs BOL This should be a close game, but Martin O'Neill should be more determined to carry his side to get out of the winless streak at Villa Park. Agbonlahor is just so consistent.

Agbonlahor

BLA vs POR Well, majority of Blackburn's players especially Dunn should have recovered from H1N1, so they will have the strength to score again. Just don't get blindfolded by Portsmouth emphatic wins: one was against a side who deployed fringe players; another was against a club who had been lacked of attacking creativity.
WLWLL - LWLDW

MANC vs BUR It's already four consecutive draws for the City and I'm so disappointed on them. If they can't even win Burnley who's so pathetic away from Turf Moor, they are purely NOOB!

Adebayor

TOT vs SUN The London Whites are having big problems in attacking with Lennon and Defoe absent. But even with Defoe released from suspension, I still don't think they're capable of winning a side who's specialized in pawning stronger sides. Cana will rape their attackers!

News and Highlights

Blues vs Devils
The battle for lead will begin at Sunday as Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge to face the most fearsome side in English - Chelsea. And I don't think the red side will stand a chance against the blue.

Why? Lets see the blues first. Striker? They have Didier Drogba aka the unstoppable monster and Nicholas Anelka aka the silent killer. Midfielder? They have the superman - Frank Lampard, the offensive Mascherano - Michael Essien, the ultimate tank - Michael Ballack and the Portuguese Xavi - Deco. Defender? They have the Terry, Carvalho, A Cole, Bosingwa, Zhirkov, Alex, Ivanovic, Belletti... Their depth is simply terrorizing.

Now lets look at the reds. Striker? Berbatov and Rooney. Sounds okay. Defenders? Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic and ? Still sounds okay no matter who fits in the last spot, if they've the cohesion of last season. Midfielders? Valencia, Giggs, okay. Carrick, Anderson? No. Carrick, Scholes? No. Scholes, Anderson? Die!

In conclusion, Man Utd will lose heavily on the midfield control, so they will lose unless Ferguson come up with a miraculous tactic or Chelsea played like how they lost to Wigan few weeks before. Good luck the Red Devils.

He will struggle again like the game against Liverpool.

Liverpool, Out?!!
Liverpool's first draw of the season had brought them to a very unfavourable position. After the 1-1 against Lyon at France, the reds are now standing at third with four points, five behind Fiorentina with two games left. In fact, they've already lost the control of their fate which they must rely on Lyon to at least draw the Italian side before they host the Florence team on their last game of the group stage. This is even harder than trailing 3-0 at Istanbul in my opinion. Good luck Benitez.

Pathetic. Even when he grabbed a chance to goal Liverpool still lost.

Heroes and Zeroes

The Fantasy Hero of the Heroes Award

Graham Alexander (21)
Congrats to him as he scored two goals in his 100th game for Burnley.

Aruna Dindane (20)
He's poorer than Alexander by only one point fantasy wise, and was much better than Alexander in the reality. A great hat-trick from him.

Rest of Heroes
Fabregas - For his superb snatch and run and goal!
Van Persie - For his two good touch to score two goals.
Lampard - For recording double figures for two consecutive matches.
Zamora - For tipping in a goal against Liverpool when he's such a lame finisher.
Craddock - For scoring two goals in one game when people only predict that he will score only two in one season.
Berbatov - For shooting a perfectly calculated goal. A little bit left it would be off target; a little bit right it would hit the defender's leg.
Green, Given - For saving a penalty each.
Hines - For appreciating his chance to fortify his position at West Ham.

Zeroes
Liverpool - For losing AGAIN.
Stoke, West Ham - For being equalised after led by two.
Robbie Keane - For his ultimately entertaining and ridiculous fact he told the press before the game against Arsenal.
Referees - For giving to many red cards in one gameweek.
Sports channel - For replaying Van Persie's goal for too long until we couldn't even see Fabregas' goal live.
Tottenham - For being like a bunch of kittens when playing against stronger sides.
Manchester City - For losing out totally against Birmingham other than the score.
Degen - For being so bad luck that almost everytime he played for Liverpool he would be either injured or suspended.

News and Highlights

Stairway to Hell
Rafa's crisis didn't go better after they beat their arch-rivals by two goals. On the game against Fulham he had to risk Torres again due to his lack of choices upfront. I really couldn't believe that he actually risked Torres only to withdrawn him at around 60th minute when the score was still 1-1. Eventually they lost with two red cards and he's moving one step closer to hell! Not to be mentioned the early withdrawal of Torres had failed to help them to win Lyon either.

"Phew~ Still ticking. Bless me..."

Ridiculous, Again
I really couldn't OMGFly believe that how Geovanni's goal was disallowed and even cautioned because of refs again. I seriously think someone is manipulating BPL games currently for producing so many controversial judgements. The league is sick.

"Thumb for the fans, middle for the refs!"

RVP = MVP?
If you notice, Van Persie has been spectacular recently for his role as the lone centre forward of Arsenal. He has benefited so much from Wenger's formation this year to become the second focal point of the gunners attack. Get him.

"Who said I've no chance of getting golden boot?"

Achieving Balance
After almost one-third of the season, teams have started to settle and the points distribution is now shifting to a more balanced share between the three lines. Following Lampard's explosive performance, Fabregas' consistent fire power, the most awaited Italian star Aquilani's recovery and more, the midfielders are expected to buck themselves up and start to collect great points to climb up in the fantasy leaderboard. You should really adjust a little bit when doing transfers.

Midfielders on fire?

Carling Cup Review
All the clubs which're expected to win qualified for the next round, except Stoke City who got beaten pathetically by the league bottomers Portsmouth. Chelsea proved to be an ultimate machine again when they beat Bolton 4-0 following their 5-0 win at league last week, while Manchester City recorded another emphatic win against lower division club.

The biggest showdown of the round of 16s - Arsenal vs Liverpool was quite a lively match as Insua's first goal for Liverpool was sandwiched between Merida's opener and Bendtner's winner. A fantastic volley by him.

"Hehehe... This game should free me from pressure!"

News and Highlights

Three
The biggest derby in England turned out to be an exhilarating and exciting game which could be even better if not because of the refs. The Merseysiders were the more determined and hyped squad and controlled the flow of the game from the start till the end while intercepted by several threatening attempts by Manchester.

The game only turned out to be more adventurous upfront when Fernando Torres broken the deadlock at 64 minutes with a shot which fully resembled his determination and confidence. Since then the home side dominated the game while Ferguson's side increased their pressure against the home side.

Owen made a return to the Anfield as a traitor and had nearly tore down the Reds defence with a golden chance ruined by last man Jamie Carragher. The skipper fortunately was only awarded a yellow card which caused a big dissatisfaction by Ferguson and his lads.

Vidic became the joke of the day when he stepped forward and exchanged some words with Carragher, only to know that he was awarded his third consecutive red cards playing against Liverpool minutes after. Mascherano was sent off just moments after as well after a barbaric foul against Van der Sar.

N'gog's goal at injury time sealed off the victory for Liverpool as the home side now secured their third successive victory against their arch-rivals and prevented the repetition of the club's 5th consecutive defeats which last occured 56 years ago. Great win.

"Hmm, seems like my choice of not wasting 20 million pounds to sack Rafa is right."

Weird Gameweek
Almost all the stronger sides failed to claim three points this gameweek. Man Utd, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa... I just couldn't believe that. The only duo who survived were the ultimately armed Chelsea and ultimately determined Liverpool.

Even stevens.

Lamp's Showdown
The fans simply miss it don't you? Lampard finally ended his open-game-goal drought which lasted for about five months after he scored a decisive second goal against the Rovers. Finally the ultimate machine of the Blues is back!

"I'm back! Beware of me yo!"

Poll of the Fortnight: Which Top Four Club Is Going To Be The First To Drop Out Of The Title Race?

Well, actually this is quite a useless poll as the census was easily there without the poll: Liverpool should be the first club to drop out of the title race.

Hell ya, followed up by the victory against Man Utd, at least they aren't getting out of the spotlight so fast.

Liverpool stood high up on this poll with 68 votes out of a total of 94 voters. Following them are their arch-rival Manchester United (13 votes), Arsenal (9 votes) and their rival of this century Chelsea (4 votes).

Coincidently, my prediction of league rankings this season come out to be tally as the results of this poll as well (CHE 1st, ARS 2nd, MU 3rd and LIV 4th). How about you?
